My Egyptian is 8mm and flings brass a country mile! Can’t save very many for reloads. The ones I do find are dented too bad
The FN-49 has an adjustable gas system. Sounds like it might need to be turned down a notch
I opened the port fully and tried to work my way to consistent ejection but to no avail. The sleeve is completely off the gas tube and still throws them 30 feet. Admittedly I havnt shot anything but old surplus hardball from the 40s and 50s and I’ve heard you shouldn’t shoot a certain country of origin 8mm because it’s made to run machine guns reliably and is too much for the semi autos but I can’t determine what I had. I just cleaned it and put it up.
