Item Description: It is a California riot shotgun, has exposed hammer and slam fire feature also has a breakdown feature, so the gun will come in half. Both sides have a serial number, both are matching, according to the serial numbers the gun was made/assembled/ manufactured in 1911. this was one of the last few guns to get the stamp "model 1897" after 1912 they changed it to Model 97, only 500k were made with model 1897, if this gun had a shorter barrel it would be the famous trench shotgun, but since its a 30/28in barrel it is the brush series ( gentleman from outdoors trader helped narrow some info down) the barrel was cut by the previous owner so it's at 25in barrel
