I have an excellent M1 Garand. It is a beautiful rifle with very little use.
It is an HRA with serial # that puts it in 1955 production, and an HRA barrel dated 10-55.
On my Stone Ax gauge it measures muzzle wear at 1 1/2 and throat at 2 1/2 !
It also has an HRA bolt, and HRA trigger group.
I assume the stock is a replacement, as it is like new. It has the eagle and stars stamp on the left, and the circled “P” on the grip.
I’m not an M1 expert, but know just enough to know how nice this rifle is. I haven’t shot it in years.
$1500 picked up within 10 miles of Griffin. No trades please. I’m sorry, but I can’t travel.
Oh yeah, I’ll include 5 unissued GI clips with the rifle.
If you have questions, please send by PM.
No bill of sale necessary, but you’ll need to flash me a current Ga. Drivers License.
Thanks,

Nice Garand. The eagle and stars cartouche is a DOD acceptance mark used after 1953. The P is another acceptance/proof mark. It should have serifs if it is consistent with the age of the receiver. That stock is in such great condition though I wonder if someone applied the cartouches after the fact. GLWS.

I assume that they are added, as that is so common with replacement stocks. Only other thing is that it was replaced and stored. I always liked getting the HRA’s, as the likelihood they saw any kind of conflict was very low, hence often in great shape.
Thanks to all for the comments.

Is it a CMP Special or Expert grade?

They have new barrels & stocks and a CMP cartouche was added to the stock.

No, the CMP cartouche is different, it would not have a P stamp, and the barrel appears to be original to the receiver.

I think this is a replacement stock and someone added the age-appropriate cartouches. The receiver and barrel look like they are in good shape. HRA receivers are top notch. This would make a great shooter for someone!

It has a HRA bolt also. That looks like an HRA correct era stock from the stamps and large flat shelf at the back of the receiver. Very nice original Korea era rifle, much more collectible than a CMP with replacement aftermarket barrels and stocks. Very fair price also. GLWS.
