up for grabs is this beautiful Pre-War Winchester Model 70. Aside from being drilled and tapped and an extra sling swivel hole added, the rifle is in beautiful shape, making it a great rifle to take out and use.
Bought from the son of the original owner, who bought it new in 1941. Man was a champion bullseye shooter and collector. Son says his father applied cosmoline to the rifle in the mid-60s and stuck it in his cabinet. Based on what I’ve found upon inspection of the rifle, these seems to be true. Bore is in wonderful condition, crisp rifling.
The rifle is a fine example of pre-war craftsmanship, a time when production rifles were handmade. A true rifleman’s rifle.
