ive gotta put my dog down

*update*

well......now im livid. was prepared to do it this saturday, now some troublemaking member of my family (who was initially pushing for him to be put down) wants to wait till after the holidays

i dont want to go into more detail but wtf. i still have to do it but they want me to do it on their schedule for some insane reason, poor dog doesnt know whats going on. damn family is hard to deal with :(

Very sorry for your loss. Dogs are family members and they give us unconditional love. Having gone through this more times than I want to remember, my advice is to go to a shelter and find a puppy as soon as possible. You won't regret it and it makes you feel a whole lot better.
That's exactly what someone told me to do, it still hurts but it helps.

you are telling me

*sigh*
**** that. Do what you need to do! Your dog! Waiting is only gonna make it worse. My husky was only 7 years old ish and came up limping really bad and barely could walk so we took him to vet. Turned out he had bone cancer and only had few months they said. Could have had one leg amputated and some chemo for dogs but that would have only slowed the disease so I had him put down that day. Cried like a baby.

i wish i could. my immediate family, particularly my younger brother, is extremely difficult and complicated

the dog is still at my folks house technically. but they were pushing me, i reluctantly agreed, and then they pull this ****

So your family would prefer the dog suffer until after the holidays? Doesn't make sense. I know it's not your decision...

My sister is a Vet, she had a Vet come to her home to put her beloved Shepherd down after doting on him for several months. Tears and Tears yes. She obtained a Shepherd pup a month before. Still very painful. You, only you, make the decision, it will be the right one. Hopefully your Vet helps you with this decision with compassion. It's a major loss, no way around it, be allowed to grieve guilt free, your dear friend will be pain free. Sorry you are going thru this Chucklenut

Dang, that is tough! That would have hit me hard too! Mine crashed over a 10 day period as she lost control of her back legs. In hindsight it was perfect, I had a chance to say goodbye and I didn't have to struggle with a drawn out decline. When it was time, everyone knew it.

Turns out we got a new pup and had one year to train her before my wife and I had our first child. she has turned out to be the perfect family dog and I doubt we would have gotten a new dog if she had passed when we had a small child in the house. The lord works is mysterious ways sometimes
