Just curious. If you are 60 how cold is too cold when looking to relocate and retire?

I retired at 61 - left "Atlanta" actually Canton - and moved to Milledgeville GA for acreage I could afford.

Good move, it’s over populating like crazy here. Apparently someone got jealous of Atlanta’s traffic and sent out a signal to move here.

I`m 78 and prefer cold over hot. I grew up in North Carolina, where we had 2-3 good snows a year. I miss a good snow. I`ve driven in the stuff from Georgia to Wyoming with nary a problem. I hate hot, muggy weather.

I have to admit, I thought they would have long before now. Like they did in 08. But this economy hasn't behaved at all like history

I went under contract 10 minutes ago to sell a house I bought in 2022 at the very very peak of the craziness here. It sold for 97% of what I paid then. Which is exactly what I figured would happen based on what I paid. Real estate in the long term is a one-way direction if you are even in a remotely desirable area.

I have a few years left to work and do not want to stay here in Kingsland GA on the FL border. How cold is too cold and where?

Maine and West Virginia are out due to amount of snow.

How things change. Looks like I'm retiring at the end of this year. Life's to damn short and the difference between going at the end of this year at 60 1/2 years versus staying until 62 is $300 per month. Not worth staying for that.

I though 62 was earliest u could retire unless disabled?

62 for Social Security. 60 1/2 from my job.
