I used a few costco varieties. Now my boy is turning 8 this week, has no "ooh and aahh" about pistols and rifles. Taught him when he was around 5 the safety and "blah blah" about them. He can tear down a Glock as well as 1911 (helps that I used to build them lol). Create the environment they are tools to be respected and keep all that do "not know" away from things that can hurt them.

Having said that, I got mine from Big Woods in Canton when it was on sale (my wife got it for me for Christmas last year; maybe have been $1,000?). It’s either 45 or 60-gun Rhino safe. I absolutely love it.

It cost a couple hundred to get Bright Day Moving to get it to my house, but worth it as they did an amazing job and were cheaper than the safe movers that Big Woods recommended (and they didn’t have a 3-week backlog; I had it within a week).

Good on you. My daughter, who’s 7, understands gun safety and has a pink .22 single-shot youth rifle I got her on sale. When she’s ready (and mature enough), she’s going to learn to shoot with it.

Look on marketplace for a jewelry safe TLRating 30 minute or more. They are usually around 1000 used. But these are real safes not cheap sheetmetal with sheetrock. If you want higher fire rating line it with 5/8 sheet rock. For keeping the kids out any container with a lock will do. Just my opinion.be prepared to pay several hundred dollars if not a thousand to have a professional safe mover bring it to you. It’s the best money you will spend.

well my wifes turning the gun room into a baby room so ima put them in my shop so thats why i need the safe if i had the space i would just toss em in my closet but i got no space in there
