just found out im going to be a dad anyone have any good safe recommendations i got about 20 guns

Congratulations!

I have bought several safes from David's Gun Room. I have also had them come out to change the locks of a couple.

Not saying anything negative about anybody else, but they are good honest people.

Good on you. My daughter, who’s 7, understands gun safety and has a pink .22 single-shot youth rifle I got her on sale. When she’s ready (and mature enough), she’s going to learn to shoot with it.

It's worth remembering that kids are also subject to a lot of peer pressure to impress their friends.

Both my kids were educated early on gun safety, and from the age of 8 or 9 I had no concerns about them being around guns, but both of them at various times had friends over for playdates, and sometimes, the desire to be a cool kid overtook their training, and I was glad that I kept everything - and I mean everything - locked up.

Kids can sometimes forget that even their best friends can be idiots.

Well said. My daughter is so into Barbies and her iPad that she couldn’t care less at this point thankfully 😂. She likes to sit in the gallery when we go to the gun store and watch shooters, but since I have class three items, I’m extremely diligent with locking everything up.

The other thing - that's probably not so big a deal down here in GA - is that there's always the risk that some parents of the visiting kids get bent out of shape when they see your Ruger Alaskan in 454 Casull in a chest rig hanging on the umbrella stand, freaking out and making a scene.

It's probably best to just remove them from the home.
I'd be more than happy to come get them...I'm a problem solver like that! LOL

Congrats on the birth.

When my kids were young I just had mine in a glass doored walnut gun cabinet and I raised them from day one with firearm safety drilled into their heads... But that was a loooong time ago and things were different back then (I still suggest the safety "drilling") and safes weren't as plentiful back then and the ones that were out there were way outta my budget. So basically I'm not much help except (maybe) a little comic relief....
Again congrats to you and the missus!!!

Congrats on the addition to the fam !!
As far as the safe… look at Liberty and/or Rhino …. Also some of the store brands make good ones too. Most of the time they are made by the big safe companies, just have a different name plate on them. The main thing is to make sure it fits your needs as far as space, fire rating, etc., Also figure that you will need room to expand or else you will be looking for a replacement in a few years.
You may also consider a pre-owned that someone has outgrown ! Much cheaper if you going to pay cash !!
Good luck !
Buy something that is way too big for what you need now and you won’t be looking for a replacement in a couple/few years !! :cool-new:
This is a solid recommendation, second hand safes always are a good deal! We occasionally get second hand safes in and they always sell quick, always look to buy for more space than you need. Other things to consider would be fire rating, theft protection, space for accessories (Lights, Dehumidifiers, Pistol holders, etc.). Rhino, Liberty, Cannon, and even some of the Winchester and Browning safes may meet your needs. There are dedicated safe dealers all across Atlanta, they just have short hours usually or work by appointment.

Teach them how to use them and not to be afraid of them. My girls have been around guns their entire life. If you ask them if a gun is loaded, they will say every gun is loaded all the time. They have a healthy respect for guns and hint with me often.
