Just got this 1968 Suburban and wondering does decent LS swaps at a reasonable price?

Just picked this 1968 Suburban with ambulance package that’s been sitting for 11 years. It only has 47k miles, but the motor is a 307 v8 and has a powerglide trans. Don’t want to waste much money on this combo. Thinking about going with an LS and 4l60 or 4l80 combo. Also looking at adding a classic air kit and disc breaks up front. Once I get it running well then I’ll move onto what to do with the rest. Either a family camping rig, or drop it, take the ambulance too off and add a sliding rag top. Either way should be a fun project.

Cool ride right there. I'd keep it simple and just put a carbed v8 small block in it. Need to keep that original drive train, that vehicle is a collectable. Besides that powerglide is a good transmission. The 307 and 305 engines were good, you just can't get much power out of them. But that's original to the vehicle and that'll be worth something to a collector

Very nice find. If you can't do the work yourself, be prepared for a very long wait. Good shops are backlogged for months. I towed my buddy's 1980 Chevy truck down to a great shop south of Vidalia back in May. The shop is finally going to start on it next week. Supply issues are the main culprit.
