This sounds fishy to me. He reportedly placed the gun on the seat next to him and nodded off and woke up when the gun discharged. Sounds to me, he may have nodded off while holding the gun in his hand/lap and flinched when being jolted awake, thus causing him to pull the trigger because his finger was on the trigger.

Agreed! He was asleep, he had to grab the gun and pull the trigger! Doesn't seem likely. I'll bet he went to sleep with the gun in his hand.

this sounds super fishy, a 38 revolver going off from a bump in the road? I still wouldn't believe a bump would set off even the most free floating firing pin sks much less a revolver. something else happened here.
