Lake Lanier, can you CC?

Ignorance of the law or no signs does not make you legal to carry on COE land. This goes on WMAs on Corps. land also. You can hunt on,say West Point WMA,with your long gun ,but can`t carry your sidearm for defense unless the sidearm is legal for what you are hunting. Duck hunting on Allatoona? Sidearm not legal. Yep,I have one when I get to the ramp at night. I take a chance even though I know I can lose my carry license if the COE checks me. You think a citation won`t get back to your probate judge? Think again. I have a friend who lost his CCL in Cobb county for failure to get his cat a rabies shot in another state. He couldn`t find the cat when he moved here. The state he left issued a warrant. Cobb took his CCL. He had to travel back to the state he left to take care of the problem.

Don't get spotted with it then and don't stick around for pictures and finger prints after you shoot a bad guy.
There....all fixed and one less bad guy.

Carrying around water is a good way to lose all your firearms in a boating accident.

If you see a flying boat on Lanier

, it might be me.....I wont be carrying, but moving too fast to care....

I would assume that the lodge / restaurant / gift shop is also on Corps propery, even if it is more than 25 yards from the "full pool" lake shore.
Why would you assume that? I assume the commercial ventures are on private property and the Corp has zero to do with it. :noidea:

Then You probably don't want to go to Lake Lanier Islands, or most of the marinas (I say "most" because there may be some on county property but I think they all are on COE).

Not familiar with specifics of other COE lakes, but I assume it is the same.

What if you use your pistol and its justified, yet on COE property? Jail time? Loss of gwl? Or if spotted with your ccw? How does the legalities work with this kind of thing?

There are just some questions you don't want to know the answers to.

You are dealing with two legal systems. You have no legal justification for using a firearm on COE property. The citation goes through the federal court system, so you can't use the legal protections of Ga. law.

Without having a specific fact situation, it's conceivable that you might be charged with a federal crime for an act that would be permitted under Ga. law. For example, I have no idea of what the status of the "stand your ground" defense is under federal law. So it is perfectly conceivable that an act that would be legal under that state law would be a crime on federal property.

Good to know. Important to know.

Do you, or anyone know which properties the Corp actually own?
