I have been trying to decide between manning up and using the scope for rangefinding or getting a laser rangefinder. I was thinking that having a laser rangefinder would help verify scope calculated ranges too.

Anyone play around with laser rangefinders for +/- 300 yard shooting? I am looking to spend less than $200 and would love some recommendations.

I have a Leupold RX600 that i got on sale from bass pro for 160ish i think. I can get it to range metal to about 700. I had an RX800 that got stolen that would range trees at 850-900. Got it for 220~ on sale. For around 300yds some of the cheaper ones will probably be fine, especially ranging steel or something wooden. Bass pro reviews will normally give you a pretty good idea on the capabilities.

with a FFP mildot scope and a calculator you can probably do a pretty darn good job too though at those ranges, especially on a known sized target like a 10" gong or bullseye.
