Yeah, thanks guys... I appreciate the information. Unfortunately it reinforces what I was afraid of. I'm thinking it's too convoluted and ****ed up to even try to transport a revolver with no ammo, seeing that I will have 3 days in DC. I'll just barrow one of my dad's handguns while I'm in Ohio and next time I drive up, I'll leave an EDC package for me to use when I'm there.

Yep, carry law in Ohio is absurd. Had to come up for a family emergency yesterday. Firearm has to be unloaded, in the trunk and the mags and firearm have to be stored in separate enclosures. I'll be looking into that FL permit once I'm back in town.
FL has an training requirement, but it isn't many hours.
