Both are Spanish copies of much more famous Colt firearms. The Ruby pistol was a variation of the Browning-designed Colt 1903 hammerless pocket model,
and that revolver could have been made by any of a dozen firms in Spain, copying Colt's DA/SA revolvers of the 1900-1920's era like the Police Positive.
This Spanish copy could have been made by Garate, Antiua, and Cie.

Both were military issued weapons during the interwar period and in WWII, and both became popular with private citizens as well. Rough but useful mil-surps for people in a tight budget.

They are indeed Spanish, but they have something very specific in common. Like a certain country buying these two types from the Spanish gunmakers because their own factories were only turning out critically needed rifles…

I don't know.
In for answers.
Both were contracted by France circa 1915 to replace firearms losses in the field.
The revolver is in 8mm French ordnance caliber and is called the model 1892 Espagnol. The fat hammer spur, a copy of the one on the French 1892, and the 8mm caliber, is the giveaway.
The Ruby was also a French acquisition of 1915, and has the two stars of French acceptance stamped on the butt, and the rivet on the slide that was installed in 1920 by order of the French army is that giveaway. The rivet was to prevent the safety being disengaged while holstering.
