Let’s play the “What is it?” game!

continuing with the theme of
handguns in films...

well, in this case it's just a promotional poster, not an actual screenshot from the film itself.....

Yes, that's it.
Owned by the photographer who was sent to do a photo shoot with Sean Connery to promote the film. Since nobody from the props department or the studio's armory showed up with any guns, but the photographer had his own .177 target pistol in his car. So since it was a "Walther" and the movie script, just like the books, had already announced that James Bond's gun would be a Walther.... the photographer and Mr. Connery agreed to use that airgun.

P.S. That big knurled knob at the base of the grip makes it look like it takes CO2 cartridges, but no, it's a spring piston design. I guess that's an access cover for the gun's mainspring and piston which were housed in the grip.

Japanese Tanegashima matchlock, introduced (first to the island of Tanegashima) in the mid 1500s by sailors from Portugal.
Widely adopted by the 17th century in Japan, it was adopted by the samurai, and used for an inordinately long time even when Europeans abandoned the matchlock in favor of more modern designs.

It has no butt stock ---basically just a raptor type pistol grip. Which is easier to use when wearing armor.

This is the long version with what looks like a 40 inch barrel; many of these were made with shorter barrels in the 20" range, and there are some handgun versions out there too.
