M1 Carbine - this is the "round" bolt as opposed to the older bolt design which was known as the "flat" bolt (had a lightning cut making it more wedge shaped). The reasoning was to make for more bearing surface and the newer round bolt had slightly more length to prevent out of battery firing for safety.
