The pistol was designed by Col. Abiel Revelli, the inventor of the world’s first submachine gun, the twin-barrelled 9mm Villar Perosa. It appears that this prototype was influenced by the Mauser C96 then in use by the Italian navy for future Italian military replacement. Other designs won out, notably the 9mm Glisenti model 1910. It currently resides in the Beretta museum.

It's a factory built rifle of a common model, but this variant looks like a custom job and has some unusual features.
They had an aluminum barrel sleeve (steel liner) that was anodized to match the receiver. They had a black one (“Raven”) I believe and a blue one (“Teal wing”)
