Lets talk fleas

I use Bravecto, get it from Vet, kills Fleas and ticks, got 3 Rotties and a German Shepard. they stay outside all day and come in at night, never have any fleas or ticks. It is a chew able, no problem getting dogs to eat. Cheap way to get fleas out of the house, get some small lamps and some bowls of water, put lamp and water in room, turn on light , they will jump toward light and fall in water and drown. works good! Also close up house and set off flea bombs,

Stop trying to save money by using cheap topical flea treatments on your dog. Go ahead and spend the extra money for either Trifexis or Nexguard (which is what I use). Its worth it, dog eats a chewable "tablet" once a month, much easier, much less messy, and way more effective.
I just got what available at Wally World, never had to deal with these things before. I've had dogs but my long hair just got infested before I knew what had a happened. I seen him scratching and flip him over to find out he's covered. I'll be buying some Trifexis tomorrow and hopefully knock this problem out.

I never had fleas until a few years ago. My little mutt has thick hair and he got infested with them. By the time I figured out he had them, it was too late. It was a nightmare. I took him to the vet and he gave me some stuff to rub down my dog's back. The vet told me the fleas would fall off in a matter of minutes. He was right! In a matter of minutes my dog had zero fleas. I had to leave him at my parent's house for a week or so, because they have a fenced backyard, and I called in a friend of mine who is an exterminator to bomb those pesky fleas. I'm telling you, it was bad. I went from no fleas to fleas everywhere in no time. They're not easy to get rid of. I can only recommend the same course of action I took because it is the only experience I have ever had with fleas, but it worked. Good luck man. They are a nightmare.
Same thing here, I've never had a problem but dang when they got on him they covered him.

Looks like it is time for me to seek out some Frontline plus.

The best deals I've found on it are in the wholesale clubs SAMS and BJ's.
Get some FOOD GRADE Diatomaceous earth..it is very fine and will penetrate to the mat..FOOD GRADE is harmless to humans and pets...sprinkle all thru the house where you have carpet let is set for a day...put a couple spoonfuls in your vacuum cleaner bag as well...vacuum them up and immediately dispose of that bag outside the house...the powder cuts gashes in their external skeleton and they dehydrate and die.
Do this once a week for a month so you get any new eggs or larvae that could have been left behind or brought back in by the pet.

WARNING IT MUST BE FOOD GRADE to be safe.

Tractor supply and veterinarian supply places sell it ...check the color because it comes in white and sometimes gray powder form...if you have light colored carpet you prob want to stay with white as if the gray were to get wet, it could make a gray mud which would be harder to clean up.

I have read that Baking Soda mixed with salt will work and baking soda also deoderizes..

You can google the DE or baking soda for flees and get all the details.

I use the white FOOD GRADE DE. Remember if it isn't FOOD GRADE, it is dangerous if inhaled or consumed and can be fatal in humans or animals.

You can make a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water and mist your pets hair and rub it in when they go out...fleas and other insect hate it and it discourages the majority of them from jumping on it.

We had a bad infestation years ago. We live in woods and deer and all manner of critters bring them into yard.
Sprayed entire area around house with Sevin and use Frontline on cat and Revolution on the dog. Revolution also is for heartworm.
Now flea free.

Treat carpets with PreCor 2000 available online or at a do it yourself pest control stores. Buy the aerosol version. Follow the label directions and vaccuum every 2-3 days thoroughly. Follow the advice above and use frontline for more effective treatment for your pets

This is the right advice. Vacuum like crazy. As often as you can. Empty the bag or canister way away from your home. Use crevice tool near the baseboards. Precor 2000 or alpine flea aerosol then I usually retreat with demand and gentrol around day 15.

The vacuuming and proper treatment of animals is the most crucial. Stay away from baths and cheap crap.

Had a bad infestation a number of years back,Vet asked if we had neighbors that didn't take care of their animals, turned out the new neighbor was a meth head and an animal hoarder, after she went to sleep and the 3 or 4 year old kid turned up in the street with 3 dogs pulling at him......lets just say we had the sheriff haul the people away, defacs hauled the kids away and animal control hauled the dogs away. They packed up and left, builder bought and rebuilt the inside of the house that was ruined by the dogs and the fleas disappeared forever.

my sister picked this up from tractor supply after they got them in the house. you just spread it around and vacuum up a few days later.

Yep sounds like @biskypilot is in the business and knows what he is talking about. You can either do as we suggested or from one of the greatest movies of all time... You can " take off and nuke the whole site from orbit...it's the only way to be sure."
