Local Gun range ammo prices.

Not trying to jack the thread, quick question but.
Just out of curiosity, where is the price hike kicking in at?
Is it starting at the manufacturer hiking his prices, then the middleman tacks some on and then the retailer slapping a few dollars on as well? Or is the retailer paying his normal rate and then slapping whatever he can get away with/what the market will bear, onto the customer?

good question. I dunno

I understand it to be a little bit of each. The largest chunk would be at the retailer to customer level though. Since the shop is barely getting any ammo in from lack of supply, it would be silly of the l them to price it at cost and immediately sell out to the first lucky neckbeard. The retailer doesn't know when they'll get more, quantity, or how much $ it will cost next time.

It’s at the retail level. Folks are cashing in on a perceived lack of supply. It’s really not complicated. You have folks that freak out and buy everything cause someone is going to take everything story. Then it just feeds on itself. Stores respond and perpetuate that fear, prices Jack up. Now here we are. Is there REALLY a shortage or can you pretty much buy what you want? I don’t have any issues buying as much as I want, except it’s just expensive. Thanks folks for panic buying.

Holding back. I'm way over due for a range trip.
And I can't help but think I'm shooting ammo at 3 times the price of what I paid for it. I have a decent stash until I start thinking about a four year, or more, sentence.
I'm good for a few terms at the minimum

Sure, I posted up the story when it happened but it looks like it may have been disappeared?

Anyway, speaking about Kennesaw first... My suppressor really seemed to strike a nerve with them. In the midst of sighting in my gun, just as I got settled in, bench rest set up how I like it, and my first group started, I hear all of this hooting and hollering. I safe my gun, and attempt to find out wtf was going on. They (multiple employees) started screaming EARS!!! I pointed at the bright orange plugs filling up my ear holes, and they made some smart ass comment about they should be able to see them. Keep in mind, the lane on either side of me was empty, and the dividers transparent clear. All someone would have really had to do would be step into one of those lanes, or possibly even the open lanes next to those to get a look. But no, that's not how it went.
They disperse, and I get back to what I was doing. I got some more rounds down range, then more hooting and hollering in my general direction. Again, I safe the gun and attempt to find out what the major malfunction was. I was then asked if I had paperwork for my suppressor. I replied yes. He then said "can I look at your paperwork?". I reached in my bag, pulled out the paperwork and had just finished unfolding it, when I realized that I was rapidly becoming an unhappy customer. I folded the paper back up, put it back into my bag, and told the highly trained individuals that I was done, and that it was thanks to their harassment.
I told them the same thing at the counter when I checked out, and there seemed to be no regret or concern with the issue at all. I paid to drive the 40 minutes to get there, set up my equipment, make a couple interrupted shot groups, get interrupted multiple times for non issues, then break down my gear without having successfully sighted in my gun. Paid for the full amount of time even though I certainly did not get to use it, and left home on my 40 minute drive.

Emailed their corporate, and they doubled down. Had no issue with the way that any of it was handled, and basically wished me the best.

Firing line I'll discuss another time. Not nearly as big of a deal with them, just didn't appreciate the way they treated new shooters. That one was a long time back though and I believe they have new management now?
I'd tell them to pound sand and never return.

Had the highest level membership at Gov Club. Gave it up. Never anything on the restaurant menu available. Last time we went to shoot 7 out of 16 lanes were not operational. People waiting an hour to shoot. The staff ? What a joke. Rude , act like they’re doing you a favor to talk to you. This was Powder Springs location about three years ago. Did a transfer there awhile back it was ok. I live six minutes from there. I do all my stuff thru TruPrep now. They’re the best !

I honestly think if you don’t have enough right now to last you four years , you’re screwed Biden will make it so onerous to get ammo you won’t be able to. Look for permit/license to buy. Look for limits to the quantity also. It will be bad !

That's my range, they're pretty good on membership deals but have always charged way above average for ammo. Pre-covid they wanted $30 for a box of 38 special.

People are still paying it though if ya can believe it. I was there about two weeks ago and some guy had come in to do a machine gun rental from em. He started while I was there and kept on going, even after I was leaving. I asked the guys at the front desk and they told me that guy had blown through at least $1000 worth of their ammo so far.
That's what I'd call a "good customer."
