Looking for our retirement hame area.

I was looking to move 2010 to Blue Ridge area. I told my doctor. He said a couple of his patients moved up there and came back due to the distance of medical needs. A Helicopter ride cost 26k in 2010 and not covered by insurance or very little coverage. When seconds count minutes are deadly.
I had this talk with my brother in law. He had some issues too. Moved to North Georgia. Then he wound up with more problems. Had to travel a good distance for medical help. I think a couple hours as it seems. Then he was in the hospital that far from home for a while. It's hard to make the grown up decisions sometimes. But this is reality

Sylva, NC has a pretty good Hospital.
Don't listen to me I only spent a long time volunteering in that area of the Blue Ridge after Helen.

I moved up in 2019. My folks (77 and 78) moved up 2 years ago. Dad has heart issues but has narrowed it down fairly well. Furthest he drives is to Canton.

Easy access to medical care virtually eliminates any place remotely nice with elbow room. I'm trying like hell to help minimize any reliance on regular health care but of course, that can all change in an instant.
Having said that, I think I'd rather live my final 10 years in a place I love than my final 12 in hell.

Sounds like you need to stay near Atlanta for medical. I'm in the same boat. Retired you can travel where you want to go. But if you need medical in an emergency, that needs to be close by
I can attest to that. Here in Virginia you never see a real doctor. There is about 12 or so Nurse practitioners that work under one doctor. It is the worst health care system I have ever seen. I know you don't want to move this far north but just check out the health care system very carefully. I have just now got my crap in order and I have been here for 6 years. It's the biggest cluster ©×÷€ I have ever witnessed! That's not an exaggeration!

Just at the beginning of looking to move from conjested Paulding.
Just started the list.
1.Gulf Shores] Al.
2. Severville Tenn.
3.Blairsville Ga.
4. Harrison Tennessee
Going to make a list pros and cons.
Then visit. To see if the pros and cons are true.
Medical care will also be very important.
Wow. 3:12 am. Time to sleep and look at this with 5 or 6 hours of sleep. If anyone knows anything that can help about these places pro or con will be appreciated.
I like to shoot my guns. Fish about a 3.5 out of 10. Hunt 4 out of 10.shoot targets 8 out of 10. Being close to medical is 9 out of 10. Time for bed I barely see what I am typing.
We have a lot of women ware and mens ware to get rid off. And the stuff we got from my dad and her dad that is cluttering up and needs to go..
My wife and I are doing the same thing. For tax reasons we are looking at Tennessee (east of Nashville). We just came back from Mountain City TN, Watauga TN, Johnson City TN, Butler TN, Unicoi TN and Erwin TN. We also went to NC but decided we will not end up in NC due to taxes, locals with asshole attitudes and democrat governor. Johnson City has excellent medical facilities and Tennessee has many tax advantages as well as many things to do there. We will end up in N East Tennessee. I also like to fish and hunt and the higher elevations in areas like Mountain City mean cooler summer temps.

Peachtree City. 100+ miles of golf cart paths (car is optional for most stuff), very little crime, good community neighborhoods, close to most stuff; but far enough away to keep the trouble makers away. Grew up here and moved back almost 30 years ago.
