If any medical provider asks if you want a "virtual" colonoscopy; give them an emphatic NO. Same as the boroscope procedure except you're awake the entire time. Yep all the unpleasantness you miss while you're doped up, you experience full bore. They pump you full of gas, tell you to keep it in, shove your into an MRI type machine and tell you to. get this; "hold your breath". Never again.
Apparently, the VA has a certain number they have to do a month to keep their techs certified. My doc asks, "You want a virtual colonoscopy? It's non-intrusive." I say sure. Never again. Knock my *** out. You know what your bladder is like after 50? Imagine the pressure when they pump in all the gas, keep you spincter tight, ask you to not move and hold your breath for 45 seconds while they shove you in a machine.
Now I know why they don't fill the slots for certifying their techs at the VA.

But when I get my prostate checked I ask the doctor to use two fingers while they're in there for and go ahead and get a second opinion.

Had one a couple of years ago. I was out so it was just a really good nap. The drugs were amazing though. Easy to see how Michael Jackson OD'd on them.
The procedure itself is a breeze. Its the prep thats murder. Side effects include but are not limited to feeling cheap and used. And ya Propofol is amazing.
