Lost BMW key

So, my girlfriends son has lost her only key to here 2007 X3.

Anyone know if BMW is the only place we can get a new one, or are there other viable options.

They want a fortune for one!

Any help or guidance is appreciated!

Probably not, I'm sure there is a chip in that key that only BMW can program.. so seems like a dealer only part

Yup.

If you have a key, sometimes you can get an aftermarket key made with a cloned chip, but if you lost the key, call the dealer.
