According to what I’ve researched due to the serial number I believe it was manufactured between dec of 1942 and Jan of 1943. But Remington also says the R.A will be engraved at the end of the barrel where this one says SA? I’m just curious if maybe it has been modified with a Remington action and Springfield barrel? Also curious if anyone knows what the stamping on the stock stands for?
Thanks in advance just trying to figure out the history on the rifle.
So do you think this was rebuilt during ww2 or after the war? I figured it was a rebuild since the receiver and barrel are not the same manufacturer.A Remington factory barrel would have RA markings and probably the MO-YR
If it has SA the barrel may have been replaced in the field by unit armorer or at a depot rebuild.
CSSA - a rebuild stamp from the San Antonio Arsenal and dates to WWII Your rifle is a rebuild. http://www.m1903.com/qna_m1903/qna.php?expand=1139
I've never seen those markings on the bolt handle side before.
I gotcha. Any idea what it’s worth? Most likely after the war.
