M1917 Eddystone.....salvageable?

Hey everyone....I finally began work on my Eddystone the other day and found some troubling things under the wood and cosmoline. The action looks solid and the bore looks good too....but this pitting on the exterior of the barrel has me a bit worried.


Is this barrel safe or did this thing just become a wall hanger?

Maybe try 140 or 145 grain 30.06 or grab a new barrel and make it a heck of a shooter.

I really want to try and save this one if I can.....of course Ive only got like $80 in the rifle anyway.

On a side note the stock has Elmer Keiths inspection stamp

$80? I would have it re barreled and never look back. New barrel is less than $200.

Try @Flammenwerfer I think he put a new barrel on a counterbored 1917 I sold him a while ago.
