M1917 Eddystone.....salvageable?

Rig it up to a lead sled and pull the trigger with a LONG string.

I bet it's ok but wouldn't bet my (or your) life on it.
 
On a side note, before you rebarrel that rifle. What condition is the bore? I ask because I've had mle16's (French WWI) that were much much worse looking on the outside of the barrel and they shot fine. How deep is that pitting? If it's shallow enough for draw filing, it's probably okay to shoot. I'd have a smith (a real one, not a LEGOSMITH) take a look at it first.

Like I said before the bore looks great. It was entirely packed with cosmoline and looks to have been in great shape when it was put away....bullet test passes.
