Had a brief chat then we both went on our way!

Surprised he was out…figured it is still kind of cool for them. But some of these afternoons have warmed up . He looks like a fine little fellow.

He had found himself a sunny patch and was basking. It was about 1230 so the day had started to heat up.

Saw him, one spike, a beautiful red tail and a thousand squirrels and one chipmunk. It was a beautiful day!

Sounds like it was a good one….I wish I had been out there myself!

One last thing of note. I did reflect on the fact that though he showed up well in the leaf litter, his cousin Mr. Copperhead would not have been so easy to spot. And if one is out I'd lay odds that so is the other. I'll keep the snake boots on until we get a little more consistent cold weather.
