Mag maintenance

I realize this may be elementary but is it better to keep the magazine loaded or empty? I know it is important to keep them clean but does it affect the spring keeping it loaded?

I keep a few mags loaded, you won’t have time to load them when it matters

I was always told to download 30 round AR mags two rounds(28) and pistol mags one round, and you would be fine for long term storage…
Clean and oil your mags when you clean and oil your weapon…
