Magnetic 9mm AR delayed blowback recoil system

It’s only got like 400 rounds on it. Still doing load development to see what I like in it.

You don’t generally see too much debris make its way back to the buffer... and the magnetic surfaces are fairly well sealed from the outside.

If you’re not sold on the idea.. their 3 stage buffer system is great. I ran one of those when I used a blowback gun for USPSA.

Reduced recoil from reduced mass coming back, but same (or increased) lock up time - that the idea?

If it didn't list not working with LRBO, I'd have probably already ordered one to try out. I went a with a Stern mag adapter partially for the LRBO. Right now I'm running a Kaw Valley solid 7.5 oz buffer with a Kaw Valley bolt and everything runs fine.

Precisely. The bolt then cycles after the pressure has reduced in the chamber.

Yea, not a gamer. I have a few Taccom bits already, no issues with them. I've seen a few blow backs that don't run for anything. I'm looking more at the smoother recoil aspect.

It’s not specifically “smoother”. It’s got a particular snap to it’s that minimal and repeatable. Designed to move the dot very little, but get it back on target quickly.

If you want smooooooth... I’d recommend something specifically designed to dampen.

- Taccom 3 stage buffer
- KYNSHOT hydraulic buffer
- MBX buffer

I’ve got one. Taccom makes some really innovative stuff for the AR9’s.

The idea is the lessen the reciprocating mass.

The buffer is rather light.. and you remove the weight from the bolt. The magnets really do take a good big of force to break loose. Time will tell how they hold up over 10’s thousands of rounds.

I’m still shooting my MPX as my main blaster for USPSA, but recently built a blowback based on this buffer system.

Ive got several major matches to train for through September, so I won’t have much time to give to this until after then.

So how does this product reduce the bolt carrier mass? Do they sell a special low-mass bolt carrier along with this to offset the increased resistance the magnets provide? If not you are simply adding more weight to what you already have.

A typical blowback buffer weighs about 5.5-7.5oz, depending on the maker/specs.

Comparing a stock PCC buffer + spring + the removable bolt weight is about 9.8oz (in my stock buffer at least).

The Taccom magnetic buffer system has 3.1oz less mass. (Must remove the bolt weight)

That’s a fair amount of reciprocating mass to take out and still have a good lockup.

Ahh, I get it now. You get to remove weight from the buffer, not the bolt carrier.

How easy/hard is it to get that magnet out of the buffer tube? Does it still drop out like a regular buffer?

With the unit being entirely self contained, you actually remove the buffer retaining pin/spring.

The unit sits slightly “proud” of the opening, as it needs to be pressing against the bolt at all times.

The unit slides right out when you open it up.. and/or you’ve got a slide edge to grab.
