On Monday, the Maine House joined with the Senate and passed LD 652, legislation which abolishes the concealed carry permit requirement in the state.

The measure passed the House Monday by a vote of 83 to 62 after passing the Senate by a vote of 23-12 on Friday.

According to the Portland Press Herald, LD 652 would leave the permitting process in place for those who want one for the purposes of concealed carry reciprocity, but it would be eliminated as a prerequisite for carrying in the state for self-defense.

I posted an article 3 months old, missed it. It's law now.

I'm waiting for Georgia to step up and restore our damn rights back... I can't do it with my representative (Democrat).

Here is our CC bill and as is set up to screw us. It needs to have the liberal leftist prohibitionist language stripped from it.

HB 543 Georgia Constitutional Carry Act of 2015; enact

Upcoming events related to HB 543

  • Awaiting Hearing in House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee
Summary of HB 543

This bill will:

  • Do away with license requirement for carrying a handgun in GA
  • Makes GWL optional for GA residents in order to obtain reciprocity for states that require such
  • Criminalize carrying of a long gun for everyone under 21
  • Adds a burden of proving oneself to be a “law-abiding citizen”
  • Does not expand places for anyone to carry firearms

  • GCO Opposes HB 543 as introduced.

Republican's dominate the House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee but two at the bottom of the list may not vote party line. Sandersville rep. is more pro-gun than some republicans I believe and that Savannah rep. I suspect is not so pro-gun but I could be wrong.

Expect a party line vote except for Mack Jackson and possibly Jesse Petrea. He may vote party.

I get GCO has to strategize but I'd support it and then work to undesirable sections. But given that I think a GWL is about as big an affront to the 2A as can be imagined, perhaps I'm not as objective on the points in red as I should be.
