Been watching Crash Landing on You on Netflix, and really enjoying it. A romantic comedy. It would be a standard rom-com if it wasn't for the context: A successful South Korean businesswoman has a paragliding accident and literally crashes into a North Korean army captain whose company is patrolling the north side of the 38th parallel.
It's a clash of politics, economics, and cultures. A little bit of Hogans Heroes. A little bit of M*A*S*H. A little bit of serious spy/political drama. Has a surreal quality to it that is hard to describe.
It's subtitled, and the Koreans speak fast, so keeping up with the dialogue can be a challenge.
Last year, the wife and I started to watch and enjoy some of the Indian ("Bollywood") crime dramas. Nice to find a whole universe of Korean-made movies and TV worth exploring.
