It is not new news. European cars are expensive to drive. I do have a guy, but he's here in Ga. I figure you're having to add antifreeze to keep the level were it needs to be. That said, mine is the head gasket. When you crank your car, does it have white smoke coming from the exhaust. That would be a tell, tell sign. That would explain the 5k estimate.
Mine is a 92 300D. It has been in the family a long time. If you want to drive a European car, they are expensive. Just part of the game. I'll probably fix mine, but I'm getting upside down in it. I do like driving a European car, but ain't cheap. I do all I can, then I get my guy to do the rest. These cars are different from the rest. You're better off letting someone that know how to work on these cars to do the work. Other wise you could wind up with worse problems than you have now. My parents learned the hard way. These cars can last a life time. But almost every other car on the road is cheaper to drive

I totally agree with you sir just trying to find the legit Germans car machinic not from the dealer of course .ye i have white smoke but not a lot I drive daily check the coolant level looks fine to me so far but mentally just trying to fix it with right price not 5k
I mean if anyone know some connection from VA will be help sir or some suggestions thank you sir
i found the local next to my house they don't do Mercedes haven't find one yet
