^ This. It was pretty ridiculous at the time. And regarding the DB tests, there are always going to be tons of variables at play so it is best to look at average over multiple tests.

Regarding shooting a suppressor dirty, there is a happy medium. Yes it will be quieter when it has somewhat dirty, but it will get to a point where it becomes too dirty and the noise can/will increase. There really is no need to have spotless internals. Just knock the crud off and start shooting.
