It was the purchase of the VESPA that convinced me to try the real deal Microtech, and since then I have purchased 3 of the legit ones... but I would be lying if I told you I could see any difference to justify the higher price Microtech...

Don't really care. We all buy products from all over the world. Just because it's made here, doesn't mean its better.
Hmmm buy from an ODT’r with a family or buy from Hong Kong? Not a hard decision for me. Ymmv.
It’s a copy man, a counterfeit, clone, knock-off, etc... you can try and make it right however you want but it’s steeling and by purchasing from them you are supporting thieves.
There are great knife makers all over the world using their own designs.
