Mil-Surplus Hunters: What are you using?

I wish I had a photo. My brother in law loves to hunt with his sporterized 30-40 Krag (us surplus) that he got from his father. He says the 30-40 is perfect for mid-range hunting. A good bit more than the 30-30 to reach out beyond 200 yards, but not nearly the kick of a 30-06.

I can tell by the look in his eye when I hold it, that it is not even worth the breath to ask if I could have a go.

Heck the type 53 comes with a perfect stand. Flip the bayonet out and stick it in the ground. Then you can do whatever you need to do then pick it up flip it back and roll on.

My ultimate goal would be to stick a pig with that gun.

My friend let me do something awesome with it once he was going to tear a trailer down. He let me do some door clearing with the type 53. Its awesome to slam the bayonet in a door frame then blow the handle and locks off. it'll blow the hindges right off the door.

I'm actually using my PU Mosin this year with PRVI Partizan soft points.....I'm considering taking a K-31 out for a spin.

Three down so far.....the deer tap is wide open in Gainesville this year.

1895 Chilean Mauser 7 x 57. Pretty close ballistics to a 30-06 w/ about 1/2 recoil. Downed deer up to 400 yards.
