We don't get MK19's, they are too damn heavy except for those chubby non-combat arms types who have tracks and vehicles. I do however have some M203's and M249's in my squad and can be plussed up with a weapons team with heavier toys that can lay down a hell of a base of fire. Kicking doors and battle drills are our lifeblood.
We are NOT any more above the law, special or privileged than any civilian is.
I have served and continue to serve with many very noble, honorable men who have stood at the gates of Hell so their families, friends and you would never have to know the horrors of war. Do you think these same men are going to come kicking in your doors with the will to kill you if need be to take your guns? I just throw this question out there for you to personally ponder. Don't expect very many military member (myself included) to take sides publicly either way on a forcible confiscation, at least not any that values their paygrade.
