picked up a shotgun this week that has a couple small cracks. What is the best/conventional wisdom on repairing them. This is a shooter, not a looker, basically just want to prevent additional damage. side by side shotty with cracks from back of receiver toward the butt, most likely due to recoil impact.

Any and all help appreciated.

If they are still moving , pin the cracks before you glue or epoxy them.

Stock repair pins are a thing

What he said. Clean the insides of the crack well. Fill with epoxy. Drill through both sides and install stock repair pins.

If you don’t want to do it, Roy King in Adairsville is the man. He fixed a busted up pre-WWII Marlin 90 stock for me.

Might want to think about the epoxy you're going to use.. forget JB weld.. Brownells accu-glass is perfect.for.most repairs. They have both a gel and a thinner original formula that are easily dyed to match your wood.
. I only use pins when the stock is completely broken in half. Usually the wrist area and i hide them..
