More grips from the shoe box

Any tips on how to tell what kind of bone it is?

To see if it’s ivory take a needle heat it up and stick it in backside of grip. If it melts in they are fakes if it burns a small black hole it’s ivory.

Did the needle test, a red hot needle pressed forcefully only leaves a tiny black mark. Also when you sand on them it kinda smells like semen, not sure if that helps.

Get a magnifying glass out and take a close look at the grain on the mount side of the Ruger grips.

Just looks like tight linear grain to me.

Those 1911 grips look like elephant ivory to me. Ate the streaks blue or red looking?

At first I was going to say no, but looking closer the actual streaks do look purplish.

No cross hatching. No little brown dots?
