Meh maybe.
Nature has always had a way of "resetting" the population to balance with the available resources to sustain said population. Whether it be war or whatever.
I'm going with WildBill on this one. The next "reset" will be a viral pandemic and there isn't a thing we can do. We were born with certain genes that will determine the outcome.

A pandemic is a much more serious risk than it used to be. The Flu is constantly mutating, and sooner or later, a particularly bad strain will emerge.... And air travel can be spread across the entire planet in a day or two. Pandemics suck.
I think the bottom line to all this is: People are lulled into a false sense of security. We happen to be living in a small slice of "civilization" when living standards are pretty good, and life is easy. It has not been that way very long.... Only about 100 years. It won't take much for things to revert to something closer to what mankind was acclimated to.
Preppers are the smart ones. Helpless yuppies and urban tools are in a far more precarious place than they can imagine. Chances are real good that the "easy life" we now enjoy will not last forever.

Gentlemen, these are superb answers. My personal belief would be a pandemic or EMP burst...not much can be done to stop either

Financial collapse. Won't happen overnight, it'll be a long drawn out scenario if it happens (I am of the opinion it already is happening). We are awfully close to that tipping point. I'm in the process of moving my family to one of the redoubt states, so I take it pretty seriously.
Financial collapse is already here. I think it will snowball with the cancellation of EBT cards resulting in rioting among the moocher class. All of the black swans listed above are plausible and any of them will be used when necessary. The only reason that the globalists have not allowed a complete collapse is that most people still have something left in paper assets to plunder. The war on terror is really a war on the bill of rights, and the 2nd amendment is the final battle. All very interesting.
