What's your idea of an ideal post-disaster/ zombie apocalypse vehicle?

Something big and tough, like a monster truck?

Something small and maneuverable to go around obstacles and partially-blocked roads, even driving on sidewalks and bike paths if necessary?

Something that gets 35 mpg, like a 4-cyl car or tiny SUV?

In my brother's family, they now have a de-armored Hummer.

I need to talk to them about a belt-fed MG for it....

I think whatever vehicle it is it should be diesel powered. Preferably older diesel technology without excess or unnecessary electronics involved. That way no matter what happens to the supply of unleaded gasoline you still have the option of making your on fuel .

You still need something to cut the grass with. Those HOAs are tough.

I suppose if things get that bad, I am walking slowly or looking for a place to sit.

Yes. GEN 1 KLR650's ('87-'07) have CDI ignitions and therefore could theoretically run without a battery.
