You can eat any mushroom once

Those apps are trash. Best identifying technique is to pick ONE type you want to find. ONE. Then learn its characteristics, its look alikes, etc. This is a surefire way to have a relatively safe start.

If I was after Turkey Tail Mushrooms (Great SHTF, survival mushroom), I would want to know:

CLP

Colors: Greys/Blue-Greys with orange stripe

Location: Typically on fallen wood, rotting wood, occassionally on living things

imPosters: etc, etc.

Above is not detailed or well thought out. Just my technique.
I will often write down or print out these criteria before leaving for a hike or adventure.
But don't take on the world by trying to find multiple species at a time. Too much room for error.
