My 1st and last ND Very nasty pics. I get to go back to work

I

To funny. I have no desire to hold that little lcr ever again. It's a fine weapon but I just don't want to touch it. I'm not necessarily fearful of it. More of the feeling that this was the one that bit me.

I think that's why A kept it. I can understand the "it's the one that bit me" mentality but, at base, I'll always be a horse trainer. If you get bucked off you d***ed sure better get up and get back on. No aspersions on your decision to let the gun go at all, just saying my way of looking at it varies from yours. I haven't personally had an ND (yet, as so many have said it's not if it's when) but I have had the benefit of learning from someone else's mistake, at immediate second hand. I'd been raised with the four rules and gun safety all my life, but let me tell you that incident had an impact on me.

Kudos to you for posting about yours and being straight up about where the fault lies. I would be interested to hear if the gun checked out clean, myself, just as a matter of curiosity... My Darlin Man is a gunsmith and I can't count the number of times I've heard him say "That's just not POSSIBLE" about some malfunction or breakage in a gun... or a literal bug in the works. So it is remotely possible that it was a combination of your forgetting/ignoring the rules *and* a little help from a flaw/malfunction in the gun.

Don't think the gun is necessarily broken, mind, just have that curious urge to find out what the final verdict is on it one way or another.

The lcr is in flawless shape. It was without a doubt my fault

There, curiosity satisfied, thank you sir. I saw where you said you were going to have it checked out but never saw where the verdict was.

Also, I never said it wasn't your fault. I only meant that your misstep *could* have had help. At the end of the day if your hand wasn't where it was you would still have that middle finger, no contest on that. It was just curiosity, flat out, as to what the gunsmith said about it, honest.

I'm one of those people that they use that "curiosity killed the cat" saying about... I just remind them that there's a second part of the saying- "and satisfaction brought it back."

I didn't read through the entire thread but did you find the round? The wound looks like a star shape as if the petals expanded but hard to imagine it would've expanded that quickly (?). I have some Hornady FPD in .45ACP which I think is similar but bonded. Makes me feel safe. :) That wound is sick.

Its stuck in the wall. When my hand heals I am going to dig it out of the sheetrock. I want to turn it into a necklace.

I have checked it and put it through its paces. Worked perfectly. That said it will be going to my gunsmith before it is transferred to anyone. I am going out of town for vacation so it will have to wait untill I return. He is in no rush to sell it, just doesn't want it anymore.

CH, and Bg, i am interested.. if you're in no hurry... i haven't replied to the threads- if you get the asking price before i come up with it, great

if i buy it, will be as much to get you shed of it as anything else... i do want a 357, just not for EDC
