My 8yo Jack took this buck on Thanksgiving morning. He made a great shot @ 650yds. It's his biggest buck so far.
I know there's going to be some backlash on the shot so I'm going to go ahead and explain. We were hunting a clear cut the shot was from one ridge to the next. He has experience shooting a 308 out to 500yds on steel. He shot it with a Seekins 6.5prc, nightforce nx8 and 143eldx. I have shot this combo out to 1k a lot and have 100% confidence in it. He knows very well the importance of making a good clean shot and I reminded him of that before he got behind the rifle. So with no wind I ranged and dialed elevation for him and he settled in took his time and waited for the deer to turn perfectly broadside squeezed it off. I watched through binos and seen the hit deer ran about 40yds and piled up. One pumped 8yo and one proud dad.
