I know it's silly but I just have to share my new build. I took over 4 months of buying every tiny little piece one at a time. The entire gun is a Spikes Tactical Spider Lower and upper with the Spider Rail. The Furniture is Daniel Defense and the Trigger is an AR Gold Trigger that adjusts from 3 lb to 4 1/2 lbs. It's set at 3 1/2 lbs for now. The Barrel is a 14 1/2 inch ST-Cold Hammer Forged Mid-Length Barrel, topped off with an 1 1/2 inch Spikes Tactical Dynacomp Extreme, pinned and welded to bring it to 16 inches. It has a Tactical Link Extended Quick Bolt release and Extended Magazine Release. It also has a Bravo Company Gun Fighter charging handle with the large latch for easier charging. Since this is mostly to be a SHTF gun I went with the Trijicon RX 30 Reflex 1x42 sight. It has a 6.5 Green MOA Dot and includes a Trijicon Quick Release Mount. I am still in the process of finding a scope for when I want to practice precise distance shooting.
SO WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

Nice setup! I'm also not a fan of the rail, but just personal preference. Have you fired it yet? I ask, because the reason I'm not a fan of those rails is there's no heat guard and my hand gets really hot, really fast. Nice looking gun though, you should be proud of it!

I have yet to shoot it. Hope to get to the range this weekend. I'm sure by using the front grip the heat won't be an issue but if I am wrong I think I may have found a heat shield that can be added to it.

None of my rails have heat shields. They might heat up during a carbine class or if left out on a really hot day but I'm not doing mag dumps so I haven't had any problems.

A company called Unique-ARs makes the spider rail specifically for Spikes and they say a heat shield is not really needed but you can get one if you like. Check out their web site. They make some really cool hand guards and for just a little more can customize them for you. https://unique-ars.com/how-to-order-the-uar-heat-shield/
