My Ruger Gunsite Scout thread of awesomeness

small update: just dropped the rifle off today to Nate at Ft. Daniels to get the bolt knob threaded and a new "tactical" one put on. just gone for a few hours, and i already miss her :( lol. also got a new flash hider, went with the Wilson Combat Accu-tac. havent shot it with it yet, but looks awesome. http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Accu-Tac-Flash-Hider-30-Caliber/productinfo/TR-ATFH-68/

and think im done with it after i get it back with the knob. unless someone comes out with a sweet looking aftermarket stock (like a XLR chassis for the 700) i dont see myself doing anything else lol.

it does match the black of the rifle perfect, some reason pic makes it look weird though lol. love technology...

Very cool, I bought one a few years back. That was before the 18" SS was available. I'm still amazed how good the trigger is from the factory, no one ever talks about that.

You're going to love having a lefty and start wondering how you ever got along without it.
It seems you have it properly figured out, Hold the barrel (heavy end of the stick) steady with your strong side and operate the controls with your weak side. Kinda wonder why none of the other guys have figured out it's the proper way to shoot.
.308 forget a red dot. You're gonna want to be able to stretch it out. A proper hunting rig needs a 3-9x anyway

this makes a lot of sense. im left and shoot right handed

oh yeah, the trigger is amazing. Nate at Ft. Daniels was impressed by the trigger, i took that as a awesome compliment coming from his precision rifle background.

I love this Gun Site Scout, CAM00464.jpg

Here's a pic of the one I set up a few months back. I did take a couple deer with it, 1 at 200 yards and 1 a 150 yards.
Quick, smooth and deadly.
I will never sell this 308, I think it's the best deer brush gun every made. plus you got options at 300 yards plus with a 3 x 9

In this pic I have a SWFA 16 x 42 that brings 500 yards down to 32.5 feet, I think it was 100 yards down to something like 6.2 feet. It was a pleasure to shoot. I know it's a lot of scope for this gun, I had to know, I was hitting milk jugs at 800 yards with the SWAF scope.
Once I ordered the new long rail so I put a Nikon 3 x 9 on it, that's how it sits today ready for a hog hunt shortly.

I also got this 308 that I need to find a home for if someone is looking.

Funny, I shoot left handed with a right handed gun. I think if I shot with a left handed gun I would be confused confused confused.
What can I say it work for me for the last 40 years.

trust me man, if you shoot lefty, once you get a left handed bolt rifle and get used to it you will wonder why you ever where using a right hander all those years. it takes a bit of practice to get your left hand used to cycling the bolt lol but its worth it.

i got my rifle back from Nate at Ft. Daniels last night!! loving the bigger knob!! feels/looks like it should be factory on the rifle! just works soooo much better! the new knob is black with the bolt/rifle being stainless. i thought it might be a little off with the colors, but damn it looks good like that!! black with stainless works amazing!!

crappy pics to follow tonight when i get home from work!! (ive never been a good pic taker lol)

few new pics of the bolt knob from Nate up at Ft. Daniels!!

and had to work my toes into at least one of the pics lol. seems the standard lately haha!!
