Wanting to work up a hog hunting load and looking for ideas. I'll be using 2400 as my powder and shooting my Rossi 92 16".

For a bullet, right now all I have is a variety of 125gr...some lead and XTPs, but want to go heavier for this load. Thinking 158gr at least, but really looking at 180gr.

Thoughts? Ideas? Experiences?

I've used the Ga Arms 158gr deer stoppers (+p+) loaded with the speer gold dot on a couple of deer and they do exactly as they are titled. You probably wont get the claimed 1700fps with that short of a barrel, though I doubt a pig is gonna complain the bullet wasn't going fast enough.
I have also used the Winchester supreme loaded with the 180gr partition gold on a deer with good results.

I would recommend either but I'm sure any factory load with a heavy bullet would work.
I have loaded quite a few 158gr XTPs with blue dot and I'm sure they would work but I have never used em on game....yet

This is what I would use.
It is a copy of the LBT WFN.
I cast these and mine run right at 185gr.
Run them over a max load of H110/296 out of my Marlin 94.

Tom
