OK, here’s the deal. This is my father-in-law‘s truck. It has been sitting for the last 12 to 15 years. He did start it from time to time but we went and moved it out of storage and everything seems to be up to par except for the AC.!
The charge is showing fully charged all the fuses that I checked are good it clicks in like the clutch is trying to engage, but then it clicks right back up as if it was low on free. Any suggestions out there? Oh great Odt world I know carry it to a professional

Reality is nobody is going to be able to tell you what it wrong without actually seeing it and laying hands on it to diagnose it correctly. They can guess all day long, possibly get lucky and hit the nail on the head….but, You get my point I am sure !
If it cycles the clutch on the compressor quickly then chances are it is low on Freon. For what reason why, I can’t tell you…but it probably has a leak.
It will need someone to diagnose it properly to be able to tell.

True that

After 15 years I would still vacuum it down and refill the freon to proper levels. Check to pressure switches if the problem still exists.

Edit: If the lines to the compressor are easily accessible I would also pull one off and add an ouch or two of PAG oil just to keep everything moving

To add to this, the "pressure" guages on the FLAPS store cans dont tell you much. You need to vac it and fill it with exactly the lbs of 134 needed to know what's up.

Understand! You cannot even see the compressor on this truck got to lay on your back and look up into the bay

OK, I did a little more research rather than being afraid to overcharge it. I just held the can there and continue to shake it not even looking at the gauge and it took the whole can now it’s blowing cold time. Will tell if it’s leaking down. thanks for all the heads up
