How lightIm shooting lighter varmint rounds
Is the goal pelt preservation?45 to 50
. Not sure either will get you what you want but beggars can't be choosey? The main goal is accurate target shooting with the cheapest ammo.Is the goal pelt preservation?
Thanks, pm inboundI have an older DPMS 16" 1/9 you can have if you want to try it. I would say the round count is less than 500.
Am I missing something or is dropping to a 45 or 50 grain bullet less expensive than 55g in factory loads? Or are you reloading? The main goal is accurate target shooting with the cheapest ammo.
It might not necessarily be the cost. The lighter bullets have a few advantages: higher velocity, less recoil, less likely to ricochet and if there’s a pass through it won’t travel far. My uncle used a 22-250 with the 45gr hp for groundhogs. There was rarely an exit. The heavy for caliber bullets are better for some things but I’ve seen large chunks of bullet fly (thermal) after hitting coyotes.Am I missing something or is dropping to a 45 or 50 grain bullet less expensive than 55g in factory loads? Or are you reloading?
I got a deal on a large amount of hornady varmint rounds and figured it would be worth finding an accurate gun to shoot them. My cost on the rounds are much less than the cheapest of 55 grain.Am I missing something or is dropping to a 45 or 50 grain bullet less expensive than 55g in factory loads? Or are you reloading?
