Need help on finding 1:9 twist 223

It might not necessarily be the cost. The lighter bullets have a few advantages: higher velocity, less recoil, less likely to ricochet and if there’s a pass through it won’t travel far. My uncle used a 22-250 with the 45gr hp for groundhogs. There was rarely an exit. The heavy for caliber bullets are better for some things but I’ve seen large chunks of bullet fly (thermal) after hitting coyotes.
Fully aware of all that, but wasn't the reasons mentioned, was trying to figure out the reasoning behind it and now he has clarified.

Also have a Colt H Bar 20" 1/9 Barrel that I would sell for $325 that is the same as the barrel in this listing:

I have a rem 700 p in 223 1/12, and it shoots 55 ok, 52 HP better but it really likes the 40 gr fiocchi extrema ammo. Here is a pic of the steel target that I use a 300 yds . The deep impacts is the fiocchi, the impacts that look like it has a small volcano are the 52 HP. 55 and 308 ball just splatter, and if can see the small places that look like it was hit with a ice pic were 62 green tip.

Have you found your barrel yet? I posted three options 1 cheapo, one good, and 1 high tier job but they have stopped AR production barrels die to increased sales on custom bolt rifle barrels.

I know Bushmaster has the 1/9 but the accuracy on my Bushy was not that good in fact it was awful. When shooting 62 grain green tip ammo it would make key holes and was all over the place. I re barreled it with a Aero Precision barrel with the A2 front sight post.

My recommendation would be the Rock River Arms out of the ones I posted or look at White oak armament. They offer 1/7, 1/8 and 1/12 twist options depending on Barrel use. You might look through there a little more see if you can scrounge up a 1/9 because I didn't look at all the options I looked at the varmint barrels and the competition / three gun barrels. Those barrels hover right at 325 and up.

That's pretty much all I got to offer right at the moment but I will tell you this, when it comes to accuracy money does bring happiness. If you cheap out on the barrel you can bank on it not shooting that well. I used to get so aggravated going to the range and shooting that Bushmaster that I just replaced the barrel but my choice was easy a 1/7 with a 1 moa @ 100 yard guarantee. Good luck my friend!

Shoot you can't beat that with a 2×4. Hope it works out for you. I had two DPMS LR308 rifles and they had excellent accuracy. Never really shot the .223/5.56 guns though. God luck with that you may get a winner there. For free you can't pass that up!

Did you get to getting that barrel on and tested? I am anxious to see how it did. I am really not expecting to much out of a free barrel but that's just being pessimistic about something you are not paying for. Hopefully I am wrong and you have a good results at the range. It will be a great test wether it shoots those low gr. weights any better than the 1/7 twist rate barrels do. So although I am a bit pessimistic, I'm really anxious to see if it shoots shoots the lower grain weights any better than the one and seven twist barrels do. Please let me know the results for nothing more than the difference in performance. I would be interested to know even if was a brand new Oak Mountain barrel. I hope it does what you want so please don't take this post the wrong way because I want you to spend as little as possible with maximum positive result. 🤞
