I doubt that the Atlanta Police Dep't is the kind of famous and widely-admired agency whose used police trade-in guns bring a premium over other used guns of the same age and condition. Now, if you have something issued by the Texas Rangers, the FBI, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or even the Pinkerton Detective Agency, THAT might have some collector's interest.

Gunbroker prices are about the same for the "department" marked 4000 series as the standard version.
The tactical version seems to bring a little more than the standard version.

The exception seems to be the 4006 California Highway Patrol version (CHP prefix in serial number) which has the bottom rail machined into the frame whereas the standard versions have the rail riveted to the bottom of the frame.

Search COMPLETED auctions on gunbroker and look for prices of guns that actually sold.
A 4003 TSW had a buy it now price for $450 and sold for $389.

These have a reputation as well build range guns, but heavy by modern standards.
Magazines are readily available.

This is the best answer.

In short, south of $400. And if you're thinking of selling, I'd do it quickly. 40S&W is a dying caliber.

OMG an Atlanta police officer held that? A million dollars would be justified.

No, but seriously, .40 sucks and Atlanta sucks. Would make a nice paper weight or door stop.

Find the officer it belonged to because he might like to have his issue weapon.

You must know more then we do as have some clue as you have it for sale at $700

Looks like that includes a revolver as well though. That Smith ain’t worth $700.
