Guys, we would like to take up the carpet on our bottom floor and put something else down that would make cleaning up after dogs and kids easier. At the time we can't afford to spend a fortune on marble, etc. My wife was reading that cork makes a good flooring although I wonder...

Ideas on flooring?

Also, I REALLY don't want to do this myself, do you know of any installers that you trust and will charge a decent rate (we have stores in the Alpharetta area that do this but seem a little on the expensive side)??

Thanks!
J

Just got Pergo put in our house and LOVE it !! I hear it's easy to install and it looked easy enough as I watched, but we had Home Depot do our install...they had a deal going on for the installation.

I pulled my own carpet and vinyl up and hauled it off, removed and re-installed the toilet myself and installed my own quarter-round trim and saved a ton of money on those parts, too....

This, I took up carpet in two rooms when I bought my house and put laminate down myself. Be careful & take your time and it looks great.

Again, This X2. If you've got a miter saw and a couple hours, it's really pretty easy. And a finish nailer helps to replace the trim around the edges of the room.

I need about 1200 square feet also done in a laminate or easy install floor. new types of vinyl look promising, almost like Pergo but not compressed wood, seems to have better wear and impact resistance.

let me know if anything comes up jester, I will do the same. Shoot, lets get a group buy going! :)

I'm looking to do some tile flooring in the main hallway and kitchen. And recarpeting the stairs and landing upstairs.
